Wigginers got the sobriquet Pie Eaters when, after a prolonged miners' strike last century, the pits from the Wigan area were the first to return - hence "Humble Pie Eaters". They do also eat lots of pies. Last year, one shop was even selling a chip pie. They used to make a hole in the top and pour gravy through it.
Judging from the pics, they eat pork pies for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Anyway, why not enjoy them - in moderation of course - my local butcher makes great ones. I wonder who the winner was.
I have been persuaded to give up pies, as my mrs is pregnant and she says that all this no wine and nice ripe cheese is the equivalent of an old fashioned confinement so if she has to eat healthy so do I. I have been going to the gym for about 16 years and i still don't look like brad pit...I have always blamed it on the pies, so i think if i go along with her idea I may end up looking like Brad :-)
